Thanks to those who've commisserated and tried to enlighten. And, you are correct, hhoope01, I'm aware that breakfast isn't normally a benefit and that upgrades aren't guaranteed, but club lounge access is and if that lounge that is closed offers an alternative, it doesn't make sense to have your most frequent clients have to prod for the benefits promised. As for when I made the reses, I specifically waited until my plat status posted before making any new reses and each hotel greeted me saying they had my plat number on file. In the case of the Westin Dulles, I even put a comment in the res that said, "Any plat upgrd would be genuinely appreciated. See you soon!"
Again, I'm just really disappointed at the outlook for even the most basic benefits of my status.
