Hyatt Place Fair Lawn/Paramus NJ - REVIEW - MASTER THREAD
Using my free night here.
Overall not bad!
Check in:
Check in at night about 8pm. Lobby was nice but small. Staffs seem nice wherever I bumped into them. I was offered a choice of points or bottle water/ a plate of fresh fruit as diamond amenity. Took the points, let see it will post or not! Hotel was pretty full(a bus load of hockey players as per the check in agent), I got an odd number room on 3rd floor facing the highway. Not much noise I could hear because of the loud window AC unit.
Room:
Decent size, quite functional, decor was modern. I was impressed with the furnishing since this was my first HP stay.
Bathroom was little dark and small. Usual hyatt toiletries except no lotion. Pullout sofa bed was nice except the seemingly clean blanket for the sofabed was actually very dirty (a lot of brown rices were stuck on it, yuck!) Fast wifi. A wired internet jack was at the desk level but nowhere I could find a cat-5 cable. Hi-def TV was a plus.
Breakfast
Look very busy in the morning, very dirty floor at the breakfast area. I had to clean my own table before my family sat down. The free breakfast was okayish. I meant better than nothing.
Fitness center:
Didn't visit.
Pool:
Large size pool. Indoor heated pool that one can actually swim in during Northeast winter time. A lot of used towels everywhere when I visited in the evening. In the morning, fresh clean towels were not replaced (totally out) until you called. This was not a Westin pool but still okay. It serves my purpose.
I noticed in the morning the parking lot was full with a lot of creative parkings.
My conclusion:
This was my first HP stay and was not bad. If hyatt can improve on its free breakfast(or diamond get better breakfast as one of the perks). I will be sold. Right not, I might still prefer HGI even with a smaller room because I get full American breakfast and bottle water as a Diamond and HGI offers every amenities HP offered plus more (HGI has microwave and Neutrogena lotion).
