Advice on Dealing with Website Fare Error
Hey, I've been a lurker here for a while, but now I was hoping I could get some advice.
I need to get from DTW to SEA in early January, since classes are starting at my university in Seattle. Classes start on the 5th, so ideally I would fly on the 4th or the 5th. I would rather not fly back on the 6th, since I would be missing an important class.
I've been watching the fares for a one-way ticket for a few weeks using the low fare finder tool. As of today, it lists fares for the 4th, 5th, and 6th as $274, $169, and $118. I just noticed today, though, that clicking on any of the days gives the results for the following day, and that the listed lowest fare is also for the following day. For example, the $169 fare listed for the 5th is actually for the 6th, once you click through to the list of flights.
I think my options are:
-Call and play dumb, asking why I can't find the $169 fare that I want when I search for the specific date of the 5th.
-Call and explain that the website is giving an error. Hope that they give me the $169 fare advertised in the low fare finder.
-Book the $169 fare for the 6th. Call and complain about getting my flight booked on the 6th, when I clicked on the fare for the 5th.
-Eat the extra cost, and just fly for $274 on the 5th.
