I guess I did not understand this.
When I looked at T&C I never saw this exception.
Only thing I remeber is finest available.
And because when I did get an upgrade is was to a suite, I thought this was policy.
So now I understand, Marriott does not offer upgrades.
I guess this was my last Marriott stay.
Off to take my platinum and turn it in to *wood status.
My understanding is that they offer true upgrades.
Maybe someday Marriott will offer a reason to stay, but after spend enough days to get Platinum, having to suck up to a desk clerk to get a room upgrade is not worth it.
