With some AA flights coming up early next year, I've been revisiting this issue. It transpires that, at 49.7 linear inches, the BA permitted size (= UK govt. permitted size) is actually some 10% larger than AA's permitted size (45").

Can I take it that the AA rule isn't actually enforced?
