Before 9/11/2001, basically all US carriers had them, not just some. Believe or not, even UA will give blue socks and blue eyeshades in Y for long haul TPAC flights other than playing cards. (yes, they handed out to every single pax from a basket, this is not even on request only)

9/11 change everything.
