Don’t know if this helps but in Sept I purchased a 3 night stay as a gift for a relative under my name, CC account, my spg #....booked on line and processed through the Hotels front desk. At the same time I stayed 1200 miles away at another hotel and all worked out fine...no problems, all points/stays deserving were posted for simultaneous stays including the local 1000pt bonus on the distant 3-night stay
