Note that if you really get in a jam, as an EXP you (plus companion) can book full-fare Y on any flight systemwide with 24 hours' notice, with guaranteed availability even on sold-out flights.

I don't know how often EXPs take advantage of this benefit, but trust me, it is right there in the benefit guide!
This "benefit" is sketchy at best... was EXP couple of years ago and tried to use this on sold out Eagle flights and they said they could not do it. Sold-out and over-sold appear to be two different things.
