Well I had a feeling
I checked into the Renaissance LAX tonight (Thanksgiving) and the first thing upon giving my name, ID and CC is that TH, we have upgraded you to the CL level in a suite. My first words were thank you and is the CL open for B/F tomorrow (Friday).. no its not open until Sunday evening.
I then asked Julie (No I don't mind hanging her out to dry) from Hermosa Beach for b/f coupons for myself and two kids. The rez does state three heads.
Julie says> No, the lounge is closed for the holidays
I said> I understand, but tomorrow is Friday and the lounge's normal operating hours include Friday a.m.
Julie>but its closed due to the thanksgiving holiday, i can give you an amenity
TH> I said you already asked me that and I selected points
Julie>well I can give you a 2nd amenity for the trouble
TH> I have two kids here that are ready for bed and I'm going to bed too; I don't want another amenity unless its b/f for us tomorrow a.m.
Julie>I can't do that
TH>Who's the GM
Julie>Mr Layman
TH>have him call me, I don't care what time it is
Julie>why
TH>*eyes roll* I want my b/f for tomorrow or I want a $100 reimbursement according to your Breakfast/Lounge guarantee per Marriott Rewards Plat benefits
Julie>the lounge is closed sir for thanksgiving
TH>is there someone here that knows the marriott reward rules
Julie>*pulls over some guy* he says thats not a benefit
TH> well call Marriott Rewards and I'll bet they tell you different

I walk away; go take my kids to the room; move the car from out front to street parking, unload a couple bags and go up stairs; of course I forget something in the car and go back down to the car get my stuff and go back to the room and there is a voice mail (It was one of those welcome v/m's). I call down and ask if they have called MR yet (no we haven't).. I do a few things and in roughly that 20-30 minute span from my calling down and me noticing an envelope under my door with a b/f coupon
what a hassle
for the record, I had tried guest services but a recording told me to call back due to the holiday
I'm still going to see if I can chat with the GM tomorrow if he is in
