I would think that 50 bags would equal about 1500 pounds. Bumping half a dozen pax saves another 1000 pounds, probably. MGTOW for a 738 is 174,200 lbs according to Wikipedia. The weight saved by the offloading was about 1.5 percent of the airplane's maximum allowed take-off weight. If 2500 pounds of payload is the difference between making it to Hawaii (legally) and not, that's a pretty slim operating margin.
