Personally I do not see this as deceptive nor would the courts I believe.
Why because the person is able compare what the costs are and as we know fares are always evolving.
To access the friend for free fares you have to go through the sale page. When searching fares from that page you do not see the other low fares available on the same dates as the friend for free. It is only by going out of that page and back to the normal booking page that you see the "free" friend is really only a discounted friend.
How many people would bother doing that?
