I've been following this thread with interest and noting some of the comments.
Some have questioned the merits of such a thread and suggested it shouldn't even be here. While I can't speak for the other moderators, I do find it interesting that there appears to be a point at which United decides to shut off customers who complain too much. This is information that posters here should appreciate knowing, even without knowing exactly which point that is and for what.
Yes, this is a bulletin board and we typically get one side of the issue. When reading, it's easy to question things that don't quite add up. Please, question those without attacking the poster. In general, most of what I read when it comes to complaints I figure has some truth, some omissions and some exaggerations. We should all be able to come to our own conclusions while still extrapolating some information - at minimum you can conclude from this that you might want to pick your battles.
Some people have clearly not read the thread as they've accused the OP of things he previously stated that he has not done. If you're going to reach a conclusion and question someone about it in an aggressive manner, you really should read the thread first.
The moderators don't like closing threads. Discussion should continue on interesting topics, but all too often the personal attacks, the accusations that have already been addressed and general hostility give us little option. And the aggressiveness of posters causes others to not share their own experiences, which is unfortunate for us all.
Anyway ...I'll get off my soap box. If the attacks, aggressive posting styles and such continue I would predict a thread closure and also fewer threads on topics that, while perhaps not perfect on all the details, still provide useful information to members. I would hate to see those stop. To use a cliche, you could say it's sometimes a matter of seeing the forest through the trees.
