I have found that one needs to have the exact member number for the system on which one earned the *G status. For instance, I am 1K UA MP. When booking/flying US, if I use my US DM number, I am not recognized as *G. If instead I use my UA MP number, I am recognized. You can switch the numbers after booking if desired.
