Amongst newly built airports in the past 10~15 years, BKK is probably the most poorly designed, from security check at the gate (which they finally woke up and changed), to assigning parking outer parking bays when there are plenty of empty inner bays available, to simply inconvenient lay out design .......

The VAT refund office is located in the back of the middle of the departure level, (Door 5).

If you're *G on an international flight, your check in is at Row B. So you have to walk all the way to the other end of the floor to check in after VAT stamp.

There is no "single line" queue where passengers are served in the order sequence that they arrive, you have to hope that you pick the right counter to queue.

Then you have to walk all the way back to the other end of the floor for international departure passport and security check.

Depending on your gate, it's invariable another long walk to pier B, C, D or E. Lucky that they have 2 VAT refund offices airside.
