I would stay away from the Renaissance, unless you happen to have business South of Houston or in that particular office park. The rooms are nice, the service is good, but it fails to meet the convenience factor, particularly if you have business downtown.

In the event you do stay here, you should rent a car as a taxi from IAH runs $60+ since you must go past downtown Houston. Not to mention another $10 from the hotel back to downtown.
