Quick Stay Report for the 4P Taipei Chung Ho Hotel. (after wanting to stay here many times but always seemed to stay at the Sheraton, followed by the Westin)

Reserved a hotel car with pick-up at Taoyuan Intl Airport. Driver was waiting outside holding a sign and pleasantly greeted and took my luggage cart. The car was a new Mercedes-Benz. Price: 1500NT.

Check-In: Rooms preassigned to the "deluxe" floor 9th-12th. Was told no suite available as there were only 2 suites on the 12th. Offered platinum amenity which include the standard points, mini-bar credit, or local specialty gift of umbrella or picture frame. Took points.

Room: Very nicely appointed guest rooms with king size bed, single sofa, flat screen tv, and desk/chair. Very clean and "updated" feel. Bathroom was nice and the size was standard. Bathroom amenities include the standard toiletries and other stuff you won't find in the states (toothbrush/toothpaste, comb, etc.) The view was not so bueno as my room overlooked an elevated through-way.

Fitness Room: Not very big but it had everything you need, machines and weights, and VERY clean and nicely appointed. The men's locker room had a spa and sauna (which i didn't use, but it looked good).

Restaurant: Had breakfast in the restaurant on the 2nd floor. Standard western and taiwanese dishes were served. (400NT+10% if not included in your rate)

Area: Not in city center so you need to take a taxi (200-300NT to Taipei Railway Station/ShinKong Mitsukoshi, or 300-400NT to Taipei 101). The FD also said one can take the taxi (~100NT) to Jing An station and take the MRT to the rest of taipei.

There is a Family Mart directly next to the hotel where you can get snacks and drinks. The area has some traditional market areas with small local eateries.

Other: NO BREAKFAST for Platinum members unless it is in your rate. Internet is free on deluxe levels 9th-12th or PLAT members if you get a room on the lower floors (dunno about GOLD members).

Overall, a solid property ^ and I would not hesitate to return.
