"Hyatt" & "Diamond" not Welcome Words yet...

My Recent Diamond Stay 2 cents:

Arrived very early (9am) and had to seek out laptop toting host (very friendly), pre-assigned corner room on 10 was not ready, but key made to allow us to go to roof/pool and have a look...

Our host offered to call when the room was clean...call received just before noon: New room ready on 7 as a VIP with late check out was still in our original room on 10, mid hall, slightly away from elevators, assured it was the same room type (a corner room in mid hall...hmm...note to staff: Diamonds aren't that stupid). Still nice view of Sunset & beyond and for 1 night I didn't want/have time to fight. Love the free goodies in the minibar and the enclosed sunroom ex-balcony. Very little vanity space in bath for 2.

Before dinner, asked about breakfast with another host...told $25 credit TOTAL per room..not per person for Diamonds would be off the bill at check out. At this point it dawned on me at least the words "Hyatt", "Diamond" and "Gold Passport" are frowned upon by much of the staff. Sorry, but you ARE a part of Hyatt, afraid you have to deal with that fact.

Breakfast was excellent as was the service, signed for the meal and went to check out and surprise: no $25 credit. After another 15 minutes and the use of 3 laptops (not kidding) my bill was correct.

Yes, it is LA, but a Wednesday night in early November and all the hassle? It certainly was a lot of fuss, and I would remind the hosts & staff of the value of a Diamond to Hyatt in the macro sense. I would stay again if the rate suited me, hopefully learning to balance the Hyatt touch with Weho hip.
