Yep, I'm sure the captain has no say in where to stop, but it's just something that I think could use improvement too. Incidentally all these flights were international flights to/from Japan, so it could be something to do with rotation. Still, it's just strange to me that when I arrived twice at around 5AM with no other flights at the gates or the other parking slots, of all places to be allotted a parking slot, it was the furthest from the terminal.

For me I normally don't mind the walk to immigration; allows me to exercise my legs after a long flight. This time around I was transiting on a tight schedule and so didn't appreciate the trip to near immigration.
