I am a Gold, but my friend who is just a regular flyer has a $50 companion ticket and we are talking about going to ANC this December. He already booked a ticket to ANC from ORD, so he will cancel that flight then fly to LAX and we will fly together to ANC.

So, if he books the ticket thru his account and puts me as a companion, will we be eligible to request for upgrades, priority seatings, etc? Will the site recognize my gold status when he feeds my MP# into the system at booking? Or, do I have to call the gold desk and have them put an upgrade request on our behalf?

Are we better off booking under my account and he can give me the discount code for his companion ticket? If we do that, can we transfer funds from his e-wallet to mine?

My first time using the companion and am clueless. So any help or advices will be deeply appreciated ^
