Journey Latin America/ TAM Name on ticket problem

Hi
Can anyone help please
My wife is flying alone with two kids and she is disabled now the ticket name and the passport are a little different. Can anyone advise.

When reservations were made name on old passport Julia De S---, also this was the name on all of Julia’s Ids, including bank card used to pay for flight, voters card, Brazilian ID, bank statements, in fact everything.

Julia was issued with a new passport on Friday and that had a different surname of Peixoto De S--- Lev---

When phoned to pay for tickets before paying I checked passport and said that they had put a different surname on the passport and that the diffe was De S-- Lev--- from DE S---

Journey Latin America said that this would be a problem to change and that it would not cause a problem since it was not Levicki de Souza

I phoned back within 5 minutes of paying and said that I had checked the passport again and it said that the Surname was Peixoto De Souza Levicki

Chris said that he would phone the airline to see what he could do. I also sent an email and at this tage the e tickets had still not been received

He phoned me back 5 minutes later and said that TAM had put a note on the ticket but that he could not guarantee that my wife would not have a problem and that the only thing that he could do was to re-issue a ticket and for that he would have to charge me £180

But he thought that I would be OK unless we got someone who was particularly difficult.

I have phoned TAM and they said that I should contact JLA and ask them to change the name, since this is just a one of those things issue then there should not be a problem, they have no control over the reservation until Tuesday so there is nothing that they can do.

If the Lev-- name change had have been made before payment there would not be a problem , but since it was not done pre payment then this is now a problem and I am being asked to pay to resolve that.

I don’t think that this is fair or reasonable, I have been flying with JLA for 10 years and I think that they should do the correct thing and change the name.

Julia is disabled and travelling with two children on her own; I cannot risk her being stranded.

Should they change £180 bearing in mind that they were informed of the fact that the ticket said De S-- Lev-- before payment

I don’t mind paying a small admin charge of about £20.00 but £180 is I feel wholly unreasonable since it is not a matter of me not checking things properly just an unfortunate change in circumstances beyond my control.

Many thanks for any advice
Richard
