I'm letting my brother take the lead on getting a Christmas present for another relative, and he's come up with an Amtrak gift certificate, but he says that the one that he's getting is valid only for trips from the relative's town. I'm concerned that he's just found some bogus thing online- or does Amtrak actually sell gift certificates valid only from a certain city, rather than for dollar amounts valid for any Amtrak ticket?
