I rented a convertible in HNL for a week earlier this month. The car was a bit beaten up, with scratches on just about every corner and a couple of decent size dents too. Before leaving the lot I spent a couple of minutes walking around the car and carefully detailing the damage. When I returned the car the agent questioned me about one or more of the dents, and I told him that it was in the exact shape it was in when I first saw it...and took out my slip I had filled out showing all the existing damage. At that point he appeared to be satisfied and we went on our way. So today, a week later, I get this letter indicating that they have received notification of damage or loss to my vehicle, and that they are investigating the claim. Obviously I'm pretty frustrated considering I didn't get a scratch on the car.
So I will call them on Monday to find out more about the extent of this alleged damage. But I had a couple of questions. While I did detail all the existing damage on the slip, I unfortunately threw it out a few days ago.

Is Alamo required to keep their copy on file in order to prove that the damage was not previously reported and therefor new? Also, I did take out the LDW/CDW insurance at a cost of $11.99/day (first time I ever did). Would that cover body damage to the vehicle? At the time I accepted it they were telling me that it would cover damage or break in to the soft top and loss of use stemming from damage or mechanical problems.
