I wouldn't call it a new biz product. It is the standard sloped seat which you find on LH/QF/LX/CA/some SQ/TK etc. and it has been around for many years (at least 7 years).

With this in mind, I don't understand why you think the seat is terrible. It is not a particularly great seat but it is fairly okay, just like many seats out there.

In terms of IFE, there are two versions of the 777. Some have full AVOD whereas other just have PTV with a loop based system. I guess you were on the later one.
