I know I've been in the insurance business too long, but I'd be concerned that it would be a projectile in the event of turbulence. IMO, it really could be a safety issue, but I probably wouldn't bring it to the FA's attention.

Personally, I never put anything into the seat pocket in front of me that it would break my heart to lose. I've occasionally left a paperback book in there and walked off the plane.
