I would not have done it because the rules of what must be done and not be done prior to take off and landing varies from flight to flight it seems. I was on Flt 185 on Wednesday and was scolded for having my cell phone (which was in flight mode and completely turned off) plugged in to the seat outlet and charging.

Dear god, we could have prevented that accident if only the guy in 11B had not plugged his phone in! Seriously, this crap is getting out of control.
