I have not been there yet since its grand opening (it was a hole in the ground when we were last there), but I've been getting periodic updates from the customer service manager.
By next April the restaurant will be finished as well as the current Hale under construction. What kind of room are you staying in? I don't have any info about the hotel rooms because I own one of the two-bedroom units. The proximity to the beach is quite close-it's on the beach! Actually, the sunset views right from the pool bar are supposed to be amazing. Friends of mine who went there said that it is quickly becoming a popular spot for happy hour because of the view. The snorkeling in front of the resort is wonderful. I don't know about the rundown resort next door at all. I'm sure if I asked the manager I'd get a cookie-cutter response. When I go in January, I will be happy to keep you posted.
