I remember going to Boston on the old 747-200s. It was quite a tight squeeze upstairs in economy (5 or 6 rows of 3+3 iirc) but the front rows had terrific legroom - you could put your feet up on a wheelie if you had one!

There must have been a problem with the cockpit air-con on those aircraft - on each flight the cockpit door was just left open!

During the safety instruction the exit-door pointer-outer did a funny squiggly arm movement to demonstrate how to leave the aircraft down the spiral staircase.
