Alaska's closest thing to an authentic taqueria.

The title of the thread is beckoa's über-exaggerated take on their locally famous commercial, involving Pedro, a Taco King driver, who announces in a very thick Spanish accent that "Taco Keeng dayleebers!" (They recently started up a long-awaited delivery service.)

The food is pretty good, reasonably priced, and is prepared extremely quickly while still being fresh. I'm a fan of their chicken tortas (with avocado and a very delicious, tangy cotija cheese), and their rice is seasoned well (it's my favorite rice out of any Mexican restaurant I've eaten at, including the ones I grew up eating in Southern California).

I also enjoy their chile verde burrito deluxe and their chicken "special tacos," which feature delicious grilled chicken on a semi-soft corn tortilla and are garnished simply with cilantro and onions.

Their daily specials used to be a fantastic value--two items (some days it's two beef enchiladas, others it's a beef burrito and a gringo taco, etc.), rice and beans, and a soda for $5.75. They've since increased in price to $6.95, but that's still a pretty good bang for the buck.

The salsa bar features mild red, medium red, hot red, hot salsa verde, pico de gallo, sour cream, and jalapeños. (The salsa bar at the Taco King in Fairbanks also has grilled onions--I wish they would bring that down here!)

It's one of my regular lunch haunts, just because it's quick, cheap, and tasty. Mmm!
