This is what I do as well. A lot less stressful only having to call once a month rather than multiple times per month. And a bit of advice to the OP: Don't request miles at an HP, there is a less than 10% chance that they will show up IME, probably closer to 0% than 10%. Just get the points, then call GP and they will convert the stay to a miles earning stay in no time flat. ^
