Actually, I think the point being made in the quote was that AA is methodically and progressively retiring MD80s as the new 737s come on line... in other words, AA knows that the MD80 is outdated equip that requires replacement, and is doing so proactively.
That being said, I am glad someone like the Mad Dogs... for the sake of disclosure, I loathe them. Then again, I don't fly coach
All kidding aside, I can understand flying an MD80 on a short-haul (2 hours or less), but anything more??? Do you really still enjoy them on longer flights?
