Sorry to jump in but seems relevant.

My current reservation at Christmas has the option to do this with miles and a $ amount. If i'm understanding this correctly i can buy up from a W to a B or Y and use miles to upgrade.

Does this 100% secure that seat up front? Or am i still on a waitlist?
