There is a good Thai restaurant in the Ploenchit shopping centre adajacent to the JW Marriott called
Tamnan Thai. Another good place to eat which is a short walk away is Cabbages and Condoms and if you want to sample some Bangkok's infamous nightlife Nana Plaza is just around the corner from the hotel.
