It's as if the hordes don't see or understand the concept of the painted yellow line or coloured carpet trim a few feet from the carousel. I love how they crowd right in there, elbow-to-elbow, as if willing their luggage to circle towards them that much faster. The courteous and the polite are left craning their necks in vain attempts to spot their bags. In these cases, I envision myself succumbing to rude behaviour and falling to their levels of courtesy: when I see my bag approach, I'll move in forcefully with a firm 'excuse me'. Not the timid, 'ooh, please may I get through' voice...I use the 'c'mon people - back the **** away from the carousel' voice. If I happen to clip an ankle or two with the luggage cart, trust me, I'm really really sorry. Next time, nurse your bruise and ponder why they designed baggage halls with so much open space between carousels...

I also flew FRA-YYC last week and 2 of our 3 bags were among the last to thump down the carousel, ending a long streak of good baggage fortune. The third bag? Made it home two days later.
