Sure, DM has some great award redemtion (for now), but in the battle for "best FF program", US is not even playing that game. It is a one on one battle between UA and AA (for top tier).
Also, I have no idea about allowable routings using US miles, but to me, it seems someone screwed something up with your 5 day stopover in SYD on a JFK-PEK award for 90K.
