Maybe I'm just a cynic, but...why is everyone fawning here? United, with no explanation, decided to take away a program that had been in place for years. It benefited its best customers only, but it still decided to dump it.
Then, at the 11th hour, UA has a change of heart and decides to restore what was already there to begin with...and people are rejoicing?
The whole thing reeks of the Simpsons episode when Mr. Burns discovers what will make everyone happy (and vote for him as governor) is something simple. "Yes...give the fools their tartar sauce."
UA has done this "take it away, then give it back to them" many times before, and each time, we celebrate.
A few recent examples:
- Earning 500 mile minimums
- Depositing 500 miles into accounts when an electronic upgrade is due to expire.
Look, I am all for being happy about CR1s being restored as the next guy/gal. However, let's get real...as a rule, they don't clear at the time of booking, and haven't for well over a year. Plus, the only people who really need this benefit are 1Ks who fly P.S. and want the ability to move up a cabin.
I guess I just have a problem with the general "Pollyanna" attitude coming from the majority of replies in this thread.
UA just restored a policy that was already in place.
Maybe I am just a cynic...or maybe I a missing something. What's so great about this "enhancement?"
