Special Hotel Conference Rate: Using while not attending conference?
I'm sure that we've all seen e-mails/letters stating that a particular group that we may be a member of is holding a conference at a particularly nice hotel and has blocked certain rooms at the hotel at a special (usually semi-low) rate.
Is there any downside to booking (and staying in) a room at the listed hotel at the special discounted rate but then (intentionally or otherwise) not enrolling in the underlying conference?
My hunch is "no," but doing so does seem a bit underhanded to me.
Thoughts?
