Oddly enough, while FLL used to be one of those airports, it no longer is.

In TLV, it works like this:

1. You first answer questions from the Security people.

2. You give your check baggage to be scanned and stand right there while it is. If there is any question about one of the items in your bag, it is taken out in front of you and examined. Once it is approved you are not allowed to leave the immediate area until you have checked in.

3. You check in.

4. You go to the place where your hand luggage is x-rayed (they don't care about what liquids you may have and you don't have to take off your shoes).
