Apart from the wonderful Datai Suite, I much prefer the end suites at The Datai. I like #120. You have pool views on one side and tree/jungle views on another, with distant views of the sea. None of the rooms have great views of the sea as the main buildings are quite distant from it - part of the charm of The Datai, as it unfolds from the entrance, gradually taking you down to the water, via jungle paths, bridges, the spa, the jungle villas, the second pool etc etc. Everywhere you go is an adventure!
Agree completely...and 120 is one I've stayed in as well. The "view" issue is one aspect, though, where The Andaman has the edge: you're almost at waters' edge at the east end of the east building; you're up high; the suite is filled with light; and the thunderstorms can be spectacular.
The monkeys will steal your sugar and fruit, though, just like they will at The Datai. They don't care who runs either hotel.
