Her lack of status is not an issue. If the inventory is available she will get the seat when you call the EXP desk.
I bought tickets for my no status family from CLT-DFW-FRA in mid-July for travel on 31 August and their upgrades cleared immediately.

I am concerned that if I try to upgrade her with eVips, since she has no status, she will be last in line for the upgrade and would have to take the flight in coach if no B seats are available.
