Exclusive Offers - What's the Expiration Date mean?

The Summer 2003 Exclusive Offers (stay 2 weekend nights, pay for one, etc.) say:
<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">"1. Offer valid now through August 29, 2003.

8. This certificate must be surrendered when checking in.

9. Weekend nights are designated as Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday nights only."</font>
August 29th is the Friday entering Labor Day Weekend. If I book Friday night the 29th and Saturday night the 30th, would the certificate be valid? I would have surrendered it on the 29th when I checked in, during its period of validity.

On the other hand, it is the second night that is free (according to T&C para 14, " . . . member will be using the Elite Exclusive Offer 2d night free certificate as method of payment for the 2nd night"), i.e., the night of the 30th.

It would seem to me the intent was to permit the use of the certificate on the 29th to cover one night's stay for a stay commenced on the 29th, otherwise the certificate would say "valid through August 24th" (i.e., the last night it could be used). However, logic and marketing do not always yield the same result.

Anyone know the answer?
