In addition to looking cool it provides:
- an ego-boost for Es/SEs with low self-esteem,
- a game-of-chance for the gambling addicted to bet on whether the bags come out earlier or later on average than not-tagged bags,
- a reason to check bags just to get the tag,
- gives agents something to do when passengers can self-checkin, self-bag-check.
-and many other fun and entertaining activities subject only to your imagination.
