Do you think your (soon to be former) employer is really going to make you pay for the lost token generator? I have seen people lose their laptops (well, usually they were stolen out of their cars or hotel rooms) and they got a new one with a reminder that they should keep the machine safe in accordance with corporate security standards. Or someone dropped their laptop, cracking the screen. No problem, got a new one.
