things to do in Fredericton

While not quite 25+ year since I graduated, it has been over 10...but I still would like to put in a plug for the Sat Farmers Market. My student metabolism used to allow me to drink chocolate milk and eat cherry danishes with no ill effects (not so likely today but perhaps if you are going to run with a torch you can eat what you like with no after effects?). I also was introduced to samosas during that time (although I think they may have been a victim of their own sucess), and I recall that the fresh orange juice vendor was very popular.

Downtown Fredericton was very pedestrian friendly (well the entire southside of the city, which is where the downtown and the university are located is very pedestrian friendly). There was a great trail along the side of the river that you could walk along (the art gallery is located along side of the river and the trail goes behind the building).

The old gothic church (again, easy to find and located near the art gallery) is worth some time. There may be tours of the legislature building (depending on the day).

Overall Fredericton's charms (for me at least) lie in the close knit sense of community and the beauty of the river and urban forest.
