Oh, you're looking for two seats? It's hard enough to find them for one person only, for two it's ridiculously difficult. Your best bet may be flying LH to Japan (Osaka usually has reasonable availability on both sectors), then NZ to Auckland or Christchurch and then to Australia from there.
As for LX C vs. LH C - I find the service to be more consitent on LX. They are generally better than a FRA-based LH crew, but not as good as the MUC-based LH crews can be. I would not go out of my way to fly LX, but if you have to connect somewhere, it might as well be ZRH.
