Interesting: I called the Delta hotline from the ATL airport to check on the AI customs line for Gold Mediallion. They wanted to know why in the world would I be concerned about that..Delta assured me that I would not go through customs, even checked with 2 supervisors and they laughed at me for thinking that I would go through customs..they assured me that I would go thru customs in Lisbon and that I must be an inexperienced flyer to think otherwise..everyone knows that you go through customs at your final destination!

Also kept thinking that there must be some way NOT go exit security..but other passengers said it was the only way to get to 2D.

Thanks for the good information!

Actually, DL staff were right. You do go through customs at your final EU destination. But you do go through immigration at the port of entry into the Schengen zone.

As to security, the current setup mandated by French police authorities is that you go through security whenever you board a flight at CDG, whether you are connecting or not. They will experiment the LYS setup in the near future, in order to allow connecting passengers arriving from "secure" countries to bypass security, but that is the current situation.
