I don't think they will extend the deadline, but it's worth a shot.
I had Hyatt certificates and couldn't use them. Instead I checked-in my Brother, Sis-in-law and two nieces into a NYC Hyatt; they had a great weekend. Like me, they live on Long Island so it was nice for them to spend the w/e in the city.
