The catering ex-JFK and ex-LAX is rather dismal -- much worse food quality than when catered out of Australia (in theory it is identical). Sadly BKK has also had poor catering in the past (worse than SIN or HKG for example). So the westbound F experience JFK-LAX-SYD is not as nice as the eastbound SYD-LAX-JFK. Cabin crew are also much better eastbound (nor surprisingly).
