The Gateway is larger and does huge convention business. They have a latte cart in the lobby that I love
The Crystal City is a bit smaller and more personal, not as many restaurants/lounges but very helpful management and front desk staff and easier to get individual help when necessary due to smaller size. Both are connected to Metro and shops.
