Set a few alerts on
www.farecompare.com (for fares) and/or
www.yapta.com (for actual, available pricing on one or more specific flights/dates) and you'll get notified when prices drop. With the inability to roll over a fare you're always better off waiting.
I've set an alert on
www.farecompare.com, and we'll see how that works out. Since I don't know where I want to go, it's harder to set specific flights. Waiting works for pricing, but not for upgrades. It becomes an interesting game.
