I've been a long-time "lurker" and I finally decided to take the plunge and register, everyone here is so helpful!

Okay, so I just found out that I'm taking a trip to Spain, France, and Germany in February, and I don't have a Passport Book. Obviously, I need to get crack-a-lackin' on this. I currently have a valid Passport Card (I travel to Canada about three times a month) and I was wondering if I could use the DS-82 form to apply for a Passport Book by mail (renewal) since I already have a Passport Card. I know it's possible to do this when you have a Book and want a Card, but I just wanted to know if it was possible to do it the other way around by mail. I really don't want to have to go to my post office because I work and passport acceptance hours are 8-3. =/ Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
